Saravanan Sivakumar known as Surya is an Actor who mainly works in Tamil film industries. Suriya was made his on-screen debut with the movie Nerukku Ner(1997). Before his career in films, Suriya worked at a garment exports factory for eight months.

Surya was born on 23 July, 1975 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. His father actor Sivakumar and mother Lakshmi Sivakumar. He has one younger brother Karthik Sivakumar known as Karthi who is also an actor in Tamil Cinema and one sister Brindha Sivakumar. He attended Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan School[5] and St. Bede's Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School in Chennai. He completed Bachelor of Commerce(B.Com) at Loyola College, Chennai.

Suriya Married to Actress Jyothika in 2006, after having been together for several years. The couple have one son Dev and one daughter Diya.

As of 2017, he has won three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and four Filmfare Awards South. He founded the production house 2D Entertainment in 2013. He received several awards & Nominations for his acting performance.

He had worked in many successful movies viz. Ghajini, Perazhagan, Kaakha Kaakha, Singam, Singam II, S3, Ayan, 7aum Arivu, Maattrraan, 24, etc.
