Shruti Haasan is an Indian film actress and singer. She mainly works in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films. She is the recipient of several awards, including two Filmfare Awards South, and has established herself as one of the leading actresses of South Indian cinema.

Shruti Haasan was born on 28 January, 1986 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Her Father Kamal Haasan is an actor & film-maker and her mother Sarika Thakur is an actress. She studied at Lady Andal Venkatasubba Rao school in Chennai and moved to Mumbai to study psychology at St. Andrew's College. She has one sister Akshara Haasan is also an actress.

Shruti Haasan made her on-screen debut with the film Hey Ram (2000) as child actor and her Bollywood film debut Luck (2009), Telugu debut Anaganaga O Dheeradu (2011), Tamil debut 7aum Arivu (2011). She made her singing debut with 'Potri Paadadi Ponne' song for the film Thevar Magan (1992, Tamil).

She has received nominations for the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer Tamil for singing "Kannazhaga Kaalazhaga" in 3 (2012) and "Yeandi Yeandi" in Puli (2015); and the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer – Telugu for "Junction Lo" in Aagadu (2014). She began her career as a music director with her father's production Unnaipol Oruvan (2009) and has since formed her own music band.
